Gifts for a Friend

Scott has a good friend, that he has hunted with for several years (but not currently, if you know of a place he can hunt!) and Scott also became good friends with his son, who is the same age as some of our youth that are just getting out of college. Anyway, Brad is getting married this summer to a sweet young lady who also hunts. Their shower is this weekend, and I being the resourceful wife that I am, made the shower gift. I looked at her registry and went with the colors of her kitchen selections sans the black. Something about brides and black don't work for me. I LOVE to make the name frames for wedding gifts, it is just so personal and sweet. Next I made the napkin rings with "Mr. & Mrs." in the center. And lastly I made her some thank you cards. Every girl needs a ton of thank yous in my world! It isn't anything Earth shattering, but it was fun to make, and hopefully they will enjoy it all. This little gift making project made me realize how badly I need a good wedding set. Once the retired list is posted, I will pick me out one!
Have a GREAT Thursday, I am off to blog on my other blog! :)

Last of a good thing

This is the last of linda's projects I have to post. I have the instructions for this one, should anyone need them.
This is a cute pocket book, we just haven't decided what to put in the pockets! ;)

I am really excited about my first blog post tomorrow on Scrappin' for Inclusion blogspot!

I am also excited about the summer calendar, last night I planned June, July and August out! There will be lots to do.

I also added some new songs to my player, so enjoy!!!

I had Jeremiah's end of school party today, so I am running behind, can't believe school is almost OVER! Where does the time go?

the good 'ol summer time

I am getting close to being out of Linda projects to post. :(
This is a cute idea, score in different places and make a pocket!!! Genius. I love how she scored the flower petals and added the button, and the picture cuts it off, but the back of the flap has a greeting as well. so fun. great summer colors.

On another note, I have a BIG annoucement! I have been asked to be a recurring guest blogger on the Scrapping for Inclusion blog. I will do every Thursday starting this week! There will be someone for everyday of the week, covering different topics. I think there are 4 of us that are on the scrap book/stamp side of things, and then the lady who runs the S4I and Diane Bubel herself, the co-founder of The Bubel Aiken Foundation. pretty cool, huh?
Here is the link http://www.scrapping4inclusion.blogspot.com/ bookmark it, and check in for different ideas and info.
Hope you are ready for Summer, bc it is coming, ready or not!!!
I have a sick one again today, sweet Jeremiah has whatever Jonathan had last week. He is so funny when he is sick. He is funny anyway, but over the top with fever!

more from Linda

How fun and cute is this?
This is used for a gift card, or $ holder.
It is a lot easier than it looks, and I was shocked to learn that the detail on the inside flap was made with the word window punch and the circle punch!

isn't it lovely?

At the crop Saturday, Terri made a card we all oohed and awed over. So, Linda, made herself some, and as she was making them, Dana and I both requested that she also make us one. And she did! :) She tried it with hunter green in place of the black, but I preferred the black. Just looks sharper.
This is the pretty petals background, colored with markers. I love that BG stamp!

Well, I spent the morning with Jonathan at the doctor to find out that his fever didn't mean much, and now I am on my way to take Jeremiah to the doctor to make sure his arm has healed correctly. Fun times in mom land.

Last night I spent several hours listing all mom's square dance stuff on Ebay, this is the life!!! ;)

We all have one or two....

We all have those people in our lives that seem to be able to do ANYTHING, and do it well.
I have several people in my live like that, but I want to tell you about Linda. That girl, she can do it all. She is my carpenter/electrician/therapist/second mom, as well as she can sew, make cakes and cookies, and stamp like no one else. Here are a few things she made for me recently. Over the next few days I will "showcase" one of them and give you some details, so you can recreate. She keeps it simple, but she has a flair. If I didn't love her so much, I'd hate her! ;) not really.

For the flower, she took a square of card stock and rounded opposite corners. then punched the flower out and mounted it. Next, you punch the flower out in the same color as the background, and on the punched flower, score the petals and fold a bit, add a 1/2 inch circle punch and a brad, then attach with a dimensional, by just off setting enough to see the cut out flower too. In the group picture you can see the opposite flower, waste not want not! see, she is really cool!

Tuesday

How fun is this?
I love the little chip board books!
(All chip board is on sale 25% off this month, ask me for details!)
I have always put paper over the entire surface of the book. I saw this sample on the demo site, and decided to give it a try. I love it!
So fun, and EASY!
It will be one of the projects we will make over the summer during the krafty kids kamp! watch for details.

Happy Monday!

I absolutely can not believe how very close to June we are! I can not believe how fast time goes. And I stay so busy, and yet, do nothing. Interesting, isn't it?
Anyway, I am having a hard time deciding what to post today. It isn't like I have tons of stuff, or even anything THAT wonderful, just still, I always want to share it all.
These are some graduation favors I made for the lunch yesterday. We had Lorena, Waco High, Valley Mills, and Midway. The saying on the back says, "You've worked so hard and you've come so far. Just goes to show what a "smartie" you are"! I found this assortment pack of smarties at walmart, they have several new flavors, candy money, and smartie gum! I used the magnet bags from stamp on this! It could have used some ribbon or cord, but I had to move on to other things before I did that! Still, I thought they were cute!

who really needs sleep anyway?

I have often felt sleep was overrated. I love naps, but sleeping all night! who has the time?
Thursday nights are fun here, there are only a handful of shows I must watch, and of course two come on at the same time! So I watch one and tape the other to watch with scott when the kids are asleep. Good plan, right? It normally works nice. Last night, I had promised to finish reading Jonathan's library book to him. Mrs. Hair very sweetly allowed him to check out a book from the 4th grade level for fun. Jonathan can read it, but it enjoys it more when I read it to him, because it is faster. Well, I had 8 chapters to read after Grey's! Needless to say, Jonathan fell asleep before the end. so sad. But Jeremiah did not! no surprise there. Then I went to my room and finished cutting out card stock for my upcoming events. Mom had helped me earlier, so there wasn't a lot left, but enough to keep me busy until after midnight. So, a normal person would go to bed, right? Well, you all know by now, I am not normal!!! So I stayed up and watched CSI. WOW! I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but WOW! reminds me of ER, just don't ask to leave a series! Not one that made you famous at least. I may regret that choice at some point today, wishing I had slept a little more. One day, I will learn, but don't hold your breath.
Anyway, I am blogging early, I have lots to do to day, and Jonathan's field day at school on top of that! So here it is. Hope it doesn't make us late for school.
This is the scrap page for this month. I wanted to use the precut flowers, they are so cool. They come in these four colors, but red and pumpkin are what I had the most of for club. I also used the print paper from the hostess benefits as borders, and thanks to Nicole adding matching brads. So cool! The chipboard is colored with regular ink, had to use it bc of the special!!! And I used the enjoy every moment stamp set. I thought this would make a great mother's day page. I am tempted to stamp Mother's Day 08 on the opposite page, on the DP and the journal spot. But that is much later on the list! I would have stamped enjoy higher up if I had foreseen making that tag, so I could place it lower, but I stamped under it, and it is covering up my crooked stamping. Colors: old olive, bashful blue, real red, and pumpkin pie.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
We have birthday party, and a CROP, and Senior recognition... it goes on and on... signs of summer!

hard to believe

It makes sense really, but it is still hard for me to believe. When Scott started working at Brazos Meadows, these guys were in kindergarten. This year they GRADUATE!!! How did that happen?
I haven't aged THAT much!?!?! It helps that I was only in 6th grade! ;) ha ha ha Well, for years, Scott and I have given the grads frames with their name and class year. I don't know if they love them, but the moms normally do. It is a fun place to put their favorite picture of graduation. As you can see, we have grads from several local schools, Midway, Lorena, Waco, and Valley Mills. We will honor them this Sunday afternoon after church with a lunch for them and their families. Hope Scott gets home in time to make his final plans, but it never seems to matter how late he waits, Scott always does an awesome job, he amazes me!
OH, and one other fun family tidbit... tomorrow is our LAST day with Jeremiah's cast! woo hoo! I am ready to rip that puppy off! And so is Jeremiah!

where have I been?

Well, I have been missing all my friends, but I am trying hard to catch up! This is what I have been doing today! I had promised a friend I would make her son's teacher gifts, so I got the tins made, per his color requests, and then I had to start making thank you notes. I have 18 to send, and mom needed one. I started out using the rub ons because I had cut up the sheets for the cards yesterday for the tart and tangy class. So instead of putting them away, I used them up. Made a bunch of cards too. They aren't my best, but they were fun and something different. My mom wasn't that impressed. Then I wanted to use some "fun" colors, so I got these out and I wasn't too happy with the first two I made, so I switched gears again, and I love the last two I made (the rhinestone brad just makes it)!
So, hopefully soon, once I get all the graduation gifts made and my other projects checked off the list, I will be caught up and I can chat with you again. Until then, count this as my HELLO!

tart and tangy

Well, I got this tart and tangy set Friday, and left for Mexia! But last night before we came home, I was able to whip these little cuties together! I am thinking we might have to each make one at the tart and tangy class. what a quick little gift for someone you would like to thank, or pick me up.

It was such a fun weekend! We priced and organized stuff from mom's garage that most of it hadn't been out of her garage since she moved to that house 16 years ago! It was interesting. PLEASE, for your kids, don't hang onto stuff you don't NEED! Anyway, Scott, Mom and I worked until 11:00 when my sister came in from Houston. She brought so much food, it took an hour to unload it all! It was nice though not to have to mess with fixing anything. So we got in bed at midnight, and woke up at 4 am! to finish pricing and placing, you honestly can not believe the amount of stuff there was. I wish we had taken a picture of it all. At 7 am people started coming to buy, it surprised me that they waited until 7, here if you say 7, they come at 6. It was also surprising that not more than 3 people tried to haggle on prices. Of course mom only had about 3 main prices for things. 10 cents, 3 dollars, or 5 dollars. She cracked me up. We sold about 90% of the mess! It was wonderful. We had a steady stream of folks right up until 1pm. It only took until 2 to get it all back in the garage or on the curb! Phase two will begin anytime now I am sure. Then we got to celebrate birthdays and mother's day. I had a GREAT birthday, thanks to all who called and sent, left, or had me pick up my gifts! ;) you guys are great.
I wish that I had taken a picture of what Linda Fowler made me before we ate it! A cookie bouquet. It was so cute and tasty! That woman can do anything. And if you ever have a garage sale, Scott is handy to have around, thanks for working so hard! You are the greatest, except when you follow me around with a chair.
Hope you all have a fabulous Monday! It is FINALLY Teacher Appreciation week at Spring Valley, and I can't wait to get up there and get it going.

happy mothers day!

I wish you all a very happy Mother's day! I hope you get to celebrate your mom, and be celebrated as a mom! To all the moms! YAY!

AS promised, here is a little Grad gift idea. I took the little tins, and covered them with black and took a black square and some ribbon and braded it to the top of the tin, and attached the words, hats off to you on circles to a long piece of ribbon, that is also attached to the bottom of the tin. You could also fill it with goodies instead! I thought this was fun and cute, and had to make one!

Have a GREAT weekend!

This box could be made into several different themes, graduation, wedding, baby, you name it!

dad's day

I JUST LOVE this, I know it is a bit early to discuss dad's day and all, but I found this on a blog (wish I could remember whose) and fell absolutely in love with it. Lindsey made a wallet at retreat once that was super cute, it held photos. This will hold money and gift cards, or whatever!

My dad would have loved it. But this will be cute for Scott's dad. I will need to think of something fun to put into it though. He is so hard to buy for, because he is such a giver, and he gets what he needs when he needs it. But there is normally some something we can find.
I guess if you don't have need of a father's day card, you could turn it into a birthday card.
I hope to make this at stamp club this month, but I am not positive yet.
You are welcome to attend and make one even if you aren't in the club!!! Laci and Kristin would love to have you. I was thinking I might even crumple it and smooth it back out for a more worn look... never can tell with me! Hope you can stay dry today.
If I have time I hope to research us some graduation ideas, some new ones. It is that time of year.
Oh, and Clay's new CD is out today. Krista and I are going to get it at lunch, you get an extra track at wal mart, or itunes. So, if you have an extra $12 you don't need for gas or stamps... get you one, help a fella out. I have to say that I am not totally excited about it. But I hope to be. I saw a picture of Clay in a BU hoodie that Krista sent me, and that was exciting for some odd reason. But I just need him to make some music that shows how really great he is, and for some reason, it never happens, you just have to see him live! speaking of live, I am way more excited about taking Jonathan to see the Jonas Brothers this summer! That is something I am already giddy about! BU hoodie or not! ;)

Die Cut Flowers from mini catty

I LOVE the die cut flowers from the mini. I used them here on the seed packs I made for Jeremiah's school. I am also planning to use them on the scrap page for this month too! Except I will use the pumpkin pie and real read ones!
Kayla and I made tons of really fun stuff Saturday, can't wait to share it with you.

More original thought

Well, I made three other cards using the "enjoy every moment" set.
I love that set, and thought it would be perfect for my scrap club.
I once again didn't look for help with it. I enjoyed my creative exercise, but am anxious to see what others have made with those sets. I love to see what other people do, it gives me all kinds of ideas. and it is fun to see things through someone else's eyes. Ira Ann always inspires me. And so do many others, so it is fun to share!
Hope you have a great weekend. I am looking forward to going to the BU baseball game with Krista, whom I have greatly neglected the last two weeks. And then some girl craft time Saturday night with Kayla and Sylvia! What a great way to start off May!!!

mom and me fun

We had a ton of fun at the mom and me night!
Sorry I didn't get a picture of everyone. you can see the slide show below.
10 moms, 11 daughters, and 1 son
it was a crowded house, but lots of good times.
I had several ask about a summer event, so watch for it.
I also had a few ask about birthday parties for kids, I am willing, just let me know when and we can make a fun and memorable time, without breaking the bank! I also know two ladies who can make wonderful cakes and treats!

Check out my Slide Show!
