playtime

I spent the morning making a few cards with my new "wonderful you" set. I just used the flowers, I know later in the year I will love using the leaves. I think that the leaves will make a fabulous masculine card!
I am proud to say that while these might not be the most amazing cards ever, I made them from "scratch". The old fashioned way. I wanted to see if I could do it. I didn't use any inspiration from anywhere. crazy, I know. sometimes it is just about knowing you can, so be can be thrilled that you don't have to!

as promised

Here are the clothes pins I made into magnets for the teachers. I have a magnet with a pin, and I love to clip stuff to it. so I hope they enjoys theirs. I used the first letter of their last names for the circles. Fun stuff.
Teacher Appreciation week is coming soon.... are you ready? I can help!

Just what I needed!

The other day I bought some fun "outdoor" stuff for two girls in Jeremiah's pre-k class who are having a birthday this weekend. I had planned to make these fun tins with their names, so they can keep whatever they would like in them. Then I was going to add the jump rope, silly string, chalk, and hair bands. When Jeremiah saw the bag of treasures, he was so excited, "Oh, Wow! Rope, silly string, chalk, this is just what I needed!"
I don't even want to know what my one armed bandit was planning.... but I think Emily and Cindy will enjoy their gift! And I know Jeremiah will be pleased to give it to them, plus their mom will love the silly string! She is fabulous at silly string combat!

better late than never

Yesterday was a wild day.
Sunday night Jeremiah decided he was tired of me telling him no to jumping off the roof. So he took matters into his own hands and jumped off a friend's playhouse (yes, the same one he got his nose smashed with a baseball bat on). He landed "just right" and got hurt. He didn't want to go to the ER, he is still traumatized from my trip to the ER with the kidney stones. So he hid how bad it hurt. He had some motrin, and handled it. When Scott's alarm went off, he asked if it was morning yet, and when Scott said it was, he asked, "then why aren't we in the car yet?". So needless to say, I took him to the doctor's. He dislocated his shoulder, and broke his arm at the elbow/radius. We spent the next several hours waiting in the Ortho's office to be seen. Again, he has only had motrin, once after it happened, and again at 6:30 am. So at 1:30 when we were in the little waiting room waiting to see the doctor, he lost it. He was tired of hurting! But we are splinted and slung, and he is much better. The doctor asked if he had learned his lesson about jumping off stuff, to which he responded, "Yes, next time, I will hold my arm up!". And that sums up my JEREMIAH! silly kid, but tough as nails.

This morning, my friends, Jeannie, and Kimberly came over to work on teacher gifts. So we have been in the craft room all morning!!! Jeannie wrote out this verse and we made it into 31 bookmarks to give to the teachers for one of the appreciation projects. We have each child return one dollar to the library, and we buy books for the library in the teachers names, and to recognize that, we are giving them a bookmark. Aren't they so cute?!?!? Thanks for all your hard work and help Jeannie!

i need to get smaller brushes!

I thought I would do an older technique today. I love this glass vase from IKEA, it was less than $4 and it is super heavy duty. I love it.
I stamped with staz on ink, and colored in with crystal effects and ink refills. I need a smaller brush, but other than that, it is a neat look. faux stained glass!

Mom and Me

Some things are just more fun when you do it with your mom, or your child! My boys love to "help" me stamp, and they LOVE too look at pictures of fun times we have had. My mom also enjoys helping me with projects. If that sounds like you, then you won't want to miss this class!
We will take two 4 X 4 coasters, and cover them with designer papers, and add in card stock pages. Then you and your child/mom can embellish and stamp the pages. I only put in 6 pages, but I plan for each book to have 10. I also punched my holes wrong, imagine that, and the inside cover became my outside cover! But I hold fast to my motto: There are NO mistakes in stamping!
Class will be on Tuesday, April 29th at 7 (Let me know if you need to come earlier). Cost is $5 per book. Please RSVP! texaskris@grandecom.net

napkin rings

Thursday, April 24th, our gift club will be making napkin rings! I really love these things, and they are easy to make, and remake for a festive table.
Anyone is welcome to join us at 7pm, you don't have to be a member of the club to come and participate! The "kit cost" to make the napkin rings is $4 for a set of 4 if you place an order and $5 for a set of 4 if you do not.
Aren't they cute??? And QUICK! I love how the two sided paper shows thru on the inside of the ring!!! Think of all the holidays you could make them for.

final three

This is the last three calendars for the teachers! Turned out cute, huh?
Thanks so very much to Carol Ann, Alecia, and Susan for all their help with these! I think they will be a hit!

I will be working on some things today... I can't wait to post them.

the next three

Alecia got her three all finished! She did have a little help from Susan. Thanks Ladies, they look GREAT!
I need to think of a cute way to fix them up to pass them out. Ribbon, it is like chocolate or Peanut Butter, it fixes everything!
Have a GREAT weekend!
Stamp Clubbers, I will see you in the morning!!!

projects

You have seen the cute little calendars that Linda F and Melody love to make... well last year I made one for everyone on staff at Spring Valley. I did it August 2007 thru May 2008. Well, Teacher Appreciation week is coming in May (we honor all the staff) and several have asked, even begged (others offered to pay) for refills for the next school year. So my wonderful and faithful ladies and I are making new sets. I printed, Alecia photo copied, then I cut out, and now Alecia, Carol Ann, and I are each making three months, here are my three, I will post the others when they finish them. I need to find a way to tie them together to present them to the staff next month! 65 sets! I may sponge the sides for some extra color.

This is a top opening lunch box! I used the summer picnic papers. I love summer picnic.
You can make your box for cards or for recipes! Or anything else you'd care to use it for.
Be watching for your opportunity to make one!

what to do with this tin

This is a very cute band aid tin, with a handle. I love them! easy to do, and cute cute cute! I love the way the chip board star and star punches fit perfect on it!
Mom and I were trying to come up with different things you could put in it... what do you think would be a good thing to put inside?
let me know!
We will be making this soon!

some ideas are, small paper pad and crayons, marbles, birthday party favors, sew repair kit, mini first aid, coupons, cigarettes (if it were the 1950's and we didn't know better!), or gift cards. But I want to hear from you!!!!

Well, as you all know, I love Mr. Clay Aiken, and his new album is coming out May 6th, just in time for my birthday! Anyway, the new single is here http://www.popeater.com:80/2008/04/07/clay-aiken-on-my-way-here-song-premiere/
if you'd like to hear it, it starts slow, but stick with it, it picks up. I like it, but I think I have been listening to too much "younger" stuff to fully appreciate it! ;)

back in action

Well, I am back! Kayla enjoyed teasing me about being disconnected with this century, and I think she was right!
But things are almost back to normal, with out too many casualties. I lost some emails I have been saving, things like recipes, retreat info, my ticketmaster tickets for the Jonas Brothers concert in July... just a few minor things...
Anyways, I am online and back in action! So I will send out a new newsletter, once I have time to compose a proper one. I remember telling someone that I would do something tomorrow, but I really don't know who or what, so if it was you, PLEASE REMIND ME!!! I am going to say that it had to be in one of my lost emails, sounds good, right!?!?!?
Anyways, I showed mom my mother's day card, and she being my biggest fan of all time, was not impressed. So, desiring to impress HER, I changed the colors only, and we have a winner! Thank You DANA for sending the spirals, you are the best!
Hope you have a fantastic week! I am still waiting for someone to enter my contest!!!! Deadline is tomorrow at midnight, I will pick a winner first thing Tuesday!

club card

This will be the stamp club card for April. It will be for mother's day. I messed up the glitter, but you get the idea. I used the "blackboard" technique. Love this background!
I have a sick computer, so I will be without for a few days, maybe longer. if you need me, call me!
thanks.
